Simpson Burgess Nash’s participation in Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning had added meaning when they helped organise an event in support of the initiative.
Sharon Nash, chief executive officer of the Old Trafford based accountancy practice, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. Sharon managed to complete a history degree from the Open University and work part-time as she battled to regain her health. Since her all clear she has led an amicable management buyout from her old firm to set up the Simpson Burgess Nash earlier this year.
Macmillan Cancer Support offers emotional and financial support to those diagnosed with cancer to improve quality of life and ease the pressures imposed by an unexpected inability to continue with their normal life.
The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK, with an estimated 2 million taking part in last year’s events. This year 42,000 people hosted a coffee morning, helping raising over £7 million for people affected by cancer by selling refreshments over social get togethers.
Sharon Nash, chief executive officer of Simpson Burgess Nash comments: “Being diagnosed with cancer is traumatic and life changing. In recognition of invaluable help and support given by Macmillan Cancer Support we decided to adopt them as our nominated charity.”
Sharon continues: “Survival rates and treatments are improving all the time, there is hope.”
